Another step in the journey...

This Saturday, July 22, 2006, ten of Jesse's friend's and relatives will embark on a 20 mile walk through the streets of San Francisco. As of today, we have raised over $10,000 toward the prevention of suicide. The event website can be found here: http://www.theovernight.org. We are walking as Team Jesse.

We all have our own reasons for choosing to be involved in this event. I encourage the walkers to use this forum to leave any thoughts or feelings about this event that they would like to share. All others should feel free to leave words of encouragement, or anything else they would like to say.

My Dear Jesse,
As we approach the 25th anniversary of your birth, your friends and family are honoring your memory with a walk to "Heal, Help, Hope." It should be a beautiful night in San Francisco, the city that reminds so many of us of you. As we walk the 20 miles with thousands of other survivors, we will be joined in spirit by all of the friends, family, coworkers and strangers who have helped to bring us here with their encouragement, their donations, and their love. We will also be joined in spirit by you, sweet Jesse. You are with us every day, and we miss you. We will see your smile, hear your laugh, and feel your love, and we send you ours.
Love you always Jess,
Aunt Karen

Dear Jesse,
We are walking to remember your lovely spirit, to help others who might reach the brink of suicide, and to join with other survivors in a long night of raising awareness, offering support, and continuing to work through our grief over losing you. It's a circular journey for me--the day we learned you were gone, we walked and walked and walked over lava in Hawaii. "Somewhere, over the rainbow," we know you are with us in spirit!
Love,
Lori

Jesse,
We walked in your honor and you walked with us. I saw you everywhere in the city that night. When I got tired and started falling asleep on my feet, I would look up and see your picture on a backpack and remember why we were there. We all kept walking.
You are my inspiration.
I love you Jesse and know you are with us always.
Forever,
Love Mom
